The presidential election doesn’t usually bother me this much.

One reason is that I’m not usually this tuned in.  This one is kind of hard to avoid and people who I think very highly of, are of completely different opinions.

And there are some things that I just don’t know.  What is truth and what is lies?  How are candidates Really going to act when they are in office?

Will the candidates do what they say they are going to do?

I find any time I watch any sort of political debate, discussion, or facebook post – I tighten up.  My whole body contracts – which is just what I help my clients NOT do.  🙂

My survival plan for the remainder of this election season:

~Pray for our country.  In the book of Daniel – he prayed, fasted, and mourned for his country.  This is not a new problem.
~Stay aware enough to be able to vote as best you can – but we don’t have to listen to every new mud-slinging news broadcast.  Turn media off.
~Meditate on this verse from Micah: He has shown you, oh man, what is good.  And what does the Lord requires of you?  But to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God.  (I feel myself relax just typing this.)
~Be aware of your breath – we often stop or slow down our breathing when we are stressed.  Just take deep, slow, breaths (not hyperventilating – just nice breaths.)
~Essential Oils – if you have a little Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint – I really love that blend.  Oh!  And Bergamot and Lime.  Or anything else you want to. 🙂  Just sniff it.  It is very relaxing.

And in a few weeks – whoever gets elected, we will probably still need the above methods – so keep them in mind long term. 🙂
